Date 9/12/2025

Iraq's imports from China rose to $14.11 billion during the first ten months of this year, compared to $12.54 billion during the same period last year.
Among the most important imported goods are machinery and mechanical equipment, mostly refrigeration equipment, worth 3.0 billion dinars, while electrical appliances, mostly mobile phones, were imported for 2.23 billion dollars.
As for the value of what Iraq imported in terms of cars and motorcycles from China, it amounted to $1.01 billion, and iron was imported for $750 million, and plastics and plastics for $680 million.
Experts say that this increase reflects the expansion of demand within the market, but it also confirms the extent of dependence on finished goods, and therefore work must be done to reduce the increasing import bill not only by reducing consumption, but also by strengthening local manufacturing.
